PIANO, VIOLIN, CELLO, and GUITAR GROUP CLASSES

  • We meet BEFORE and AFTER school, Monday-Friday, for 30-minute classes. Maximum 8-10 students per class to ensure effective individual attention.
  • PIANO Group Classes are offered by grade (1, 2, 3, 4). Keyboards are provided for class use.
  • STRING Group Classes for violin and cello ("Ebinger Orchestra") are open for  VIOLIN (Gr. 1 and up) and CELLO (Gr. 3 and up). Students must rent their violins and cellos; info below.
  • GUITAR Group Classes (Gr. 3 and up). Students must rent/own their own, and bring them to our weekly classes.
  • TUITION: $150 for ten weekly 30min. classes; includes sheet music. 10-week sessions start in September, January, and April (3 sessions per year).
  • Full tuition payment directly to the teacher at the start of each session will reserve your spot (Zelle, Venmo, Cash).
  • There are two concerts (Holidays and End-of-Year).
  • Our instruction follows the Traditional European Method (students learn note reading, rhythm patterns, elements of music theory and history, style, etc.) combined with Suzuki Method elements.
  • Students must bring their music folder and instrument (for violin, cello, guitar) to all our classes.
  • Nails must be clean and trimmed, please.
  • Home practice time: 10 minutes 4-5 days a week recommended. More practice = more progress.
  • All activities are subject to the Ebinger school calendar, policies, rules and regulations.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
  • PIANO: we provide keyboards for our in-school classes. You will need a keyboard or digital/acoustic piano for home practice. Sheet music is provided and included in tuition.
  • STRINGS: must rent a VIOLIN or CELLO - we highly recommend "Seman Violins" of Skokie; $25/month for violin rental, or $38/month for cello rental. Rentals come with bow, case and rosin; insurance covering damage and adjustments is included. Sheet music is provided and included in tuition.
  • GUITAR, younger beginners will need a fractional size instrument (1/2 or 3/4 depending on age/height), rental or purchase. Older players can bring their own full size guitar (acoustic preferred). Sheet music is provided and included in tuition.
  • Please avoid wasting time and money with violins or cellos off eBay, Amazon, etc. since they are barely playable, at best. Effective teaching and learning cannot occur with sub-standard equipment. Please be aware that manufacturing and adjusting a string instrument is a complex and detailed skill performed by highly trained and experienced professionals, and it is highly unlikely to come across a good instrument online, sight unseen. A playable string instrument is a most sophisticated tool, and beginners, in particular, deserve good tools!
  • Music stand for practice at home is recommended (strings only).
  • Sheet music in a folder will be provided, and is included in your tuition.
  • Metronome/tuner (recommended apps)
